The First Sneak Peak Of ‘House Of The Dragon’ Shows A Targaryen Showdown

The long wait has ended, HBO finally released a sneak peak from hit HBO series Game of Thrones’ prequel, House of the Dragon, and fans are already beginning their speculations! It’s been a while since we’ve gotten an update on Westeros, but HBO decided to release the first picture of Prince Daemon and Princess Rhaenyra who will be played by Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy respectively.

While they both look like they are Targaryen siblings, I’m sure huge fans of the series will know that Daemon is King Viserys’ brother and Rhaenyra is the first born daughter of King Viserys. Judging from the picture, I’m not too sure which part of Westeros the 2 Targaryens are at, but the beach strongly suggests that they are either on Dragonstone or the beaches of King’s Landing.

Next up, HBO also released an image of Lord Corlys Velaryon who is played by Steve Toussaint. This character is also known as the Sea Snake, but his house, House Velaryon did not make an appearance on Game of Thrones so not much is known about him. But an important thing to note, House Velaryon was actually the second most powerful house in Westeros at the time this series is set, as they share Valyrian heritage with the House of Targaryens. (So they can control dragons too, yikes)

The last picture that was released by HBO is an image of Queen Alicent Hightower and Otto Hightower, played by Olivia Cooke and Rhys Ifans. Queen Alicent is apparently the second wife to King Viserys, she stepped up to marry the king after his first queen’s passing. Well, you already know what happens, her father Otto Hightower was given the position Hand of the King to solidify their house position in Westeros.

Okay, enough spoilers for now. I really hope this series lives up to Game of Throne’s reputation (not the last season though). Are you excited for HBO to release House of the Dragon?
