Supermarket Fined With RM1,000 After Video Of Shoppers Fighting For Coca-Cola Went Viral
If you have been scrolling social media for the past 24 hours, you might've already seen the viral video of shoppers fighting for cartons of Coca-Cola at a supermarket in Perak like it's Black Friday sales. It was believed that the drink was on promotion on that particular day, as Chinese New Year is just around the corner.
According to a statement by the Manjung District Head Police, the incident took place in Econsave Supermarket at Jalan Medan Sejahtera, Jalan Lumut, Sitiawan, Perak. While shoppers were worried that they can't get a carton or 2 of Coca-Cola, the Econsave management will now face a compound of RM1,000 for failing to ensure physical distancing amongst visitors on the premise.
Police are urging those who have information regarding the incident of breaching SOPs to come forward and provide them with more information. Meanwhile, people are encouraged to keep following the SOPs set by the MKN, as the festive season draws closer and to curb the spread of Covid-19.
