It will then tour across Japan in cities such as Osaka in April, Fukuoka in May, Sapporo in June, and Nagoya in June and July.

If you have no idea what Spirited Away is, it is an Academy Award winning anime film by Japanese animator and director, Hayao Miyazaki. It was considered one of the most iconic and popular animated films that use to hold the highest grossing film in Japan until ‘Demon Slayer: Infinity Train’ took over the charts last year.

One of the best theatre directors is set to direct the stage play, John Caird, who was behind several award-winning theatre productions, like Les Misérables, Nicholas Nickleby and Daddy Long Legs as well as an Honorary Associate Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Rumour has it that 2 actresses have been casted as Chihiro, Knna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi. If you’re a big fan of anime films then you’ve definitely heard of ‘Your Name’ also known as ‘Kimi No Na Wa’, Mone was actually a voice actress of the award-winning anime film!

You don’t need to like anime or be an ‘otaku’ to actually fall in love with this film! It is arguably one of the best and most beautiful films ever produced!

Let’s talk about the story, it revolves around Chihiro, a 10 year-old girl moving with her parents to a new home. Unfortunately, the family got lost in a mysterious world of fantastic spirits which was ruled over by a sorceress, Yubaba. Chihiro’s parents were turned into pigs and a series of bizarre and dangerous challenges start happening around Chihiro. Her biggest challenge was to survive the strange place and return to the human world while losing her identity.
