Sony Is Making A Movie About A K-Pop Girl Group That Hunts Demons

K-pop and anime fans might have something to look forward to (or not), thanks to Sony’s new movie, ‘K-Pop: Demon Hunter that’s about a group of talented female idols who can sing, dance, and kill demons in secret in their daily lives.

Sony Pictures Animation will be working with director Maggie Kang, who has previously worked on ‘The Lego Ninjago Movie’ and will be paying homage to her Korean heritage and the iconic K-pop music culture in this movie.

“Having been a fan of the genre since its beginnings in the 1990s, this film is my love letter to K-pop and my Korean roots. It encompasses and celebrates everything K-pop is – it’s the film I would want to see as a lifelong fan and I hope the millions of K-pop fans out there in the world will feel the same,” said Kang.

Joining Kang will be director Chris Appelhans, writers Hannah McMechan and Danya Jimenez, Oscar-winning producer Aron Warner, as well as production designer Mingjue Helen Chen and art director Ami Thompson, both of whom have previously worked on Disney’s ‘Raya And The Last Dragon’.

The movie is described as an animated action adventure musical that features colourful elements of fashion, food, style, and music. And although there’s no release date announced for the movie yet, I certainly cannot wait to see how everything will play out!
