Sneakers Worn By NBA Star Michael Jordan Sold For RM6.2 Million
A pair of 1984 Nike Air Ships which were worn by NBA superstar Michael Jordan early in his basketball career was sold for nearly US$1.5 million (RM6.2 million). The footwear set a record price at the auction for game-worn footwear.
“The most valuable sneakers ever offered at auction — Michael Jordan’s regular season game-worn Nike Air Ships from 1984 — have just sold at US$1,472,000 in our luxury sale in Las Vegas,” the auction house tweeted.
The red and white Nike footwear was worn by the iconic basketballer in the fifth game of his rookie season with the Chicago Bulls. Previously, the record was held by a pair of Nike Air Jordans which was sold for US$615,000 back in August 2020. Although sold in a private sale, a pair of Nike Air Yeezy worn by rapper Kanye West was sold for US$1.8million in April.
