Skincare Essentials On A Budget: Products Below RM50

As someone who struggles with sensitive skin, I used to think that good skincare products only come with an expensive price tag. It took years of trial and error for me to realise that sometimes, the best skincare products in life are found in drugstores.

If you are on the search for affordable skincare products, then keep scrolling because I am about to introduce you to a budget skincare routine where you can get a list of essential skincare items for less than RM50 from your local drugstore!

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser – 125ml

Usual price: RM15.90

Review: True to its name, Cetaphil’s gentle skin cleanser is extremely gentle to your skin and even your wallet! Since it is non-foamy and non-scented, this cleanser is highly recommended by dermatologists for all skin types. And speaking from someone who has sensitive and combination skin, this cleanser does not irritate or dry up my skin, which makes it a great find for amazing and affordable skincare.

2.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water – 125ml

Usual price: RM 14.90

Review: Although some consider double cleansing an optional step in the skincare routine, using micellar water before a facial cleanser is great for removing dirt, makeup and excess sebum (oil) from the surface of your skin. Best part is, you only need a few drops of micellar water to do the trick, so a tiny bottle like this is good to last you a few months and would not eat up your skincare budget.

3.

Simple Soothing Facial Toner – 200ml

Usual price: RM14.50

Review: Known for its no-nonsense and effective skincare products, Simple’s soothing facial toner is alcohol and fragrance-free so you can rest assured knowing that it will not leave your skin too dry or irritated. At its super affordable price, Simple is a great choice for anyone who is looking for a refreshing toner that caters to all skin types.

4.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture Combination Skin – 118ml

Usual price: RM30.15

Review: This moisturiser is probably the most expensive product on this list, but it is still pretty budget-friendly considering a bottle like this would last me for a good seven to eight months. As with most of the products listed, this moisturiser is fragrance-free and sensitive skin friendly. It is also oil-free and super lightweight, which makes it perfect for combination skin as it effectively moisturises the dry skin around my nose and cheeks while controlling the shine on my oily T-zone.

5.

Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence – 50g

Usual price: RM29.75

Review: The most important step to any skincare routine is sunscreen and with SPF 50+ and PA++++, Bioré’s sunscreen provides extremely high protection against harmful UV rays. Not only is it lightweight, it is also non-greasy and does not leave any saturated white cast on your skin. Most importantly, Bioré’s sunscreen effectively protects your skin and wallet from further damage.

So there you go, a guide to affordable and practical skincare products under RM50. Do note that these reviews are based on my personal experience as well as other positive remarks I have received from friends and family around. If you struggle with skin problems, it is always best to consult a skin expert or dermatologist before you experiment with any new products.
