Several Areas In The Klang Valley To Be Placed Under EMCO Starting 3 July Until 16 July

Malaysian Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced yesterday (1 July) evening that several areas in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur would be placed under an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) with tightened restrictions starting tomorrow from the 3rd to 16th July, in order to decrease the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the affected localities.

Under the EMCO, only one person from each household is allowed to travel out for basic necessities within a 10km radius from their homes. Individuals are also not allowed to travel after 8pm unless for emergency or special cases with approval. During this period, no sports, recreation, or social activities will be allowed.

Despite the announcement earlier this week about the new operation hours of 6am to 10pm for eateries, the latest EMCO will once again limit restaurants, food trucks, and hawkers in the Klang Valley to operate from 8am to 8pm only.

Those who work in the essential services can show the previously issued MITI letters when travelling to work, but employers who are not in the list of approved services must comply by providing leave or enforcing work from home orders, said Ismail Sabri.

Individuals who need to travel across state or district borders for their vaccination appointments can simply show their MySejahtera application for proof. But if you’re planning to take e-hailing services, then only one passenger and a driver will be allowed in the vehicle at the same time. Meanwhile, public transports are allowed to operate at 50% capacity.

Only factories involved in the production of rice, bread, sugar, cooking oil, wheat, fresh milk, baby formula, medicine, and face masks will be allowed to operate throughout the EMCO period, so hopefully this move will be able to lower the positive cases.

Among the affected areas in Selangor placed under EMCO include the Districts of Petaling, Hulu Langat, Sepang, Gombak, Kuala Langat, Klang, Kuala Selangor, and Hulu Selangor.

Meanwhile in KL, only these areas will be affected by the EMCO:

  1. Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) Sri Semarak

  2. Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) Batu Muda

  3. Flat Seksyen 2 Wangsa Maju

  4. Flat Seksyen 1 Wangsa Maju
