Yesterday (8 September), Selangor, Putrajaya, and Kuala Lumpur which were categorised under Phase 1 will be transitioning into Phase 2 of the NRP from 10 September onwards. According to the announcement by PM Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, residents living in the Klang Valley will be allowed to travel between these 3 states.
“The Special Covid-19 Pandemic Management Committee meeting today on Wednesday, September 8, agreed to allow the transition into Phase Two for the areas under Klang Valley, which are Selangor, the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and the Federal Territory of Putrajaya effective September 10, 2021. The Committee also decided that Selangor, the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and the Federal Territory of Putrajaya are combined as one same area of infection. Hence, movement between these states is allowed and there will be no more roadblocks,” Ismail Sabri said.
However, interdistrict travelling within areas under the Klang Valley will only be allowed for those who have completed their vaccination. Among the activities that will be allowed to operate during Phase 2 include dine-ins at eateries, local tourism within respective states involving accommodation at hotels and homestays, long-distance couples to cross state borders to meet partners, and hair salons, hairdressers, and beauty salons allowed to operate.
Meanwhile, states under Phase 1 involving Kedah and Johor, will be able to do sporting activities like futsal, swimming, badminton, and basketball. Indoor commercial sporting and recreational facilities will also be able to operate under strict SOPs and on an appointment basis. But of course, these additional leeways will only be available for those who are fully vaccinated.
