Schools Will Reopen Starting 3 October After One-Month Postponement
It was previously announced in July that students would be returning to schools and resume physical lessons on 1 September, but the decision has been met with disapproval and concern from parents and educators due to the high number of Covid-19 cases across the country.
In latest news, Senior Education Minister Datuk Radzi Jidin has announced yesterday (15 August) that the plan to reopen schools will be delayed by a month to 3 October. The reopening of schools will be done in stages according to the four phases under the National Recovery Plan.
Schools in areas under Phase One would not be allowed to reopen while schools in Phase Two would be allowed to open for exam year students in Forms Five and Six. Meanwhile, school in Phase Three would be able to reopen in full.
However, Radzi added that the decision to reopen schools in Phase Two and Three will still be dependent on the risk evaluation conducted in the respective states.
