Road Tax Renewal at Post Offices Will Not be Allowed Till 31 March 2021
The road transport department (JPJ) issued a statement saying that the renewal of road tax (LKM) for all private vehicles will be suspended temporarily until 31 March 2021, across all post offices nationwide.
Pos Malaysia followed up saying that other services such as driving license and vehicle insurance renewal remains unaffected and you can still do so over the counter.
Does this mean we can’t legally drive around anymore?
No it doesn’t, as the transport ministry has allowed licensed drivers to operate vehicles with expired road tax for the duration of MCO 2.0 as long as the vehicle has valid insurance.
Drivers are required to keep a copy of their vehicle insurance certificate (e-cover note) as a form of verification if you are pulled over or questioned at a roadblock by authorities.
