Puerto Rican Woman Made History As Victoria’s Secret’s First Model With Down’s Syndrome

25-year-old Sofia Jirau from Puerto Rico made history as she became Victoria Secret’s first model with Down’s syndrome! Jirau took the news over to her personal Instagram, telling followers that she is taking part in the lingerie brand’s new Love Cloud campaign, for everyday underwear.

However, this wasn’t Jirau’s first big gig. The Puerto Rican model had been gathering steam since she debuted at New York Fashion Week back in February 2020. “One day I dreamed of it, I worked on it and today it is a dream come true. I can finally tell you my big secret I am the first Victoria’s Secret model with Down’s syndrome,” Jirau said.

“Thanks to all of you for always supporting me in my projects. Thanks to @victoriassecret for seeing me as a #NoLimits model and making me part of the Love Cloud Collection inclusion campaign. This is just the beginning, now it’s formed. Inside and out there are no limits, Alavett,” she said.

Besides modelling, Jirau is also an activist with her No Limits campaign called Sin Límites. The campaign aims to raise awareness about Down’s syndrome.
