Police To Use Drones To Ensure Malaysians Obey SOPs During Hari Raya
Since announcing previous plans to conduct house-to-house inspections to check on people travelling interstate without approval, the police have revealed a new technique to monitor SOP compliance at residential areas during Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, and this time, it’s by using high-tech drones.
But you don’t have to worry about surprise visits from the police at your house because according to Senior Assistant Commissioner M.V. Sri Kumar of the Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (Operations), the usage of drones will be subject to the request of district police chiefs in the state.
On the other hand, drones will not be used to monitor those living high-rise residential areas but the police will be checking the visitors’ logs on the premises instead, so don’t even think of trying to get away with it.
All these efforts are in place to ensure that all Malaysians are still observing the SOPs, even during the festive season, in order to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
