PM Ismail Sabri Announced That Indoor Sports Centres Will Be Allowed In Phase 1 States
Just yesterday (8 September), the Minister of Youth and Sports, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu tweeted out to the Ministry of Health (KKM) to allow gyms and facilities for outdoor sports to be opened, as cinemas have already gotten the green light to reopen.
A couple of hours later, PM Datuk Seri Ismail Yaakob tweeted on his account to announce that Selangor, KL, and Putrajaya will be moving to Phase 2 tomorrow onwards (10 September). Along with the tweet, he added that there will be relaxations in SOPs for sports and recreational activities for states in Phase 1 of the NRP which will also come into effect on 10 September.
According to the image, indoor sports will be allowed for those who have completed their vaccination while indoor commercial sports and recreational facilities are allowed to operate by regulation. The usage of these facilities will have to be done on an appointment basis for fully vaccinated individuals. Sadly, gyms are not included in the list.
Minister of Health Khairy Jamaluddin also tweeted: “For gyms, @KKMPutrajaya will be jointly developing some ventilation guidelines with MKN that need to be adhered to. This will not take long but because of the nature of indoor fitness centres, we must stress on certain ventilation requirements. Working on it urgently.”
