Phase 2 Of Covid-19 Vaccinations Will Begin In 8 States Starting April 19, Says Khairy

As phase one of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) slowly comes to an end, NIP Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has announced yesterday that the second phase of vaccinations is expected to begin in 8 states across Malaysia around later this month.

Among the states that are set to kick off with phase two on 19 April are Kedah, Melaka, Penang, Pahang, Sabah, Sarawak, Terengganu, and the Federal Territory of Labuan, followed by several other states days later based on the readiness of the vaccination centres and staff.

The second phase of vaccinations will include senior citizens, disabled persons and those with chronic diseases. According to Khairy, some vaccine recipients can expect to receive notifications about their appointment date starting today.

Generally, individuals would be notified about their appointment date through MySejahtera at least 14 days before the actual appointment day. Meanwhile, appointment reminders will also be sent via SMS and call centres three days and one day in advance.

Khairy added that once individuals have registered and confirmed their vaccination appointment date, their attendance would be compulsory to ensure that preparations made by vaccine centres would not go to waste.
