NSYNC And Backstreet Boys Members Debut New Collaborative Single
Anyone who grew up in the 2000s would probably remember being forced to choose between liking NSYNC or Backstreet Boys, co-existence was never an option. But guess what, 2021 is hitting us with another surprise as former Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean and NSYNC’s Chris Kirkpatrick teamed up last weekend to perform their new collaborative single, Air.
The performance took place in Las Vegas last Saturday during the Music For Life fundraiser event for the Victoria’s Voice Foundation that aims to raise awareness on drug abuse.
Not only did both “rival” band members debut their new single on stage together, they also had a little boyband riff-off performing their respective hits like Bye Bye Bye, I Want It That Way, and It’s Gonna Be Me.
And if that wasn’t cool enough, fellow boyband member Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees was also there to perform his band’s hit single The Hardest Thing. Timmons even joked about a possible boyband reunion between the three groups, saying “We’re gonna announce the 98 Degrees/Backstreet/NSYNC World Stadium Tour, come 2022.”
Of course, no boyband reunion would be completed without bringing up some nostalgic rivalry. “There was a time when I couldn’t be in the same room with this guy (McLean). But there’s always been a mutual respect, and now that we’re all parents, we’ve grown up. Reflecting on things, it’s cool to see what each of the bands did and how it all worked together,” said Kirkpatrick.
Lucky for us, this won’t be the last time we see a Backstreet Boys and NSYNC collaboration as McLean is set to team up with bandmate Nick Carter as well as NSYNC’s Lance Bass and Joey Fatone for a special collaboration in celebration of Pride Month!
