NCT’s Lucas Wong Is On Hiatus After Being Accused Of Cheating And Exploiting Female Fans
Hong Kong-born rapper Lucas Wong of K-Pop groups NCT, WayV, and SuperM is the latest idol to be embroiled in a scandal after he was accused of taking advantage of female fans who were allegedly his former girlfriends. As a result, the 22-year-old rapper has issued an apology and is currently going on a hiatus.
The accusations surfaced earlier this week when three female users who claimed to be Wong’s former girlfriends alleged that the rapper had taken advantage of them by making them buy him designer goods and pay for his cigarettes and hotel room charges. One of the victims also claimed that Wong had cheated on her while another revealed that she was gaslighted by the NCT member.
As more allegations arose on social media, Wong eventually took to social media on Wednesday (25 August) to post a handwritten apology letter to his fans, saying "I've been looking back at my actions and I was able to sincerely reflect on myself. It was wrong and irresponsible and I betrayed my loving and supportive fans.”
"Once again, I would like to apologise to everyone who may have been disappointed by my actions. I will make sure this never happens again and I will halt all my schedules as of now and take time to reflect on myself," Wong wrote in Chinese.
As a result of this issue, Wong’s agency SM Entertainment has suspended the release of his single ‘Jalapeno’. The single, which was set to drop on Wednesday, also features fellow WayV member, Hendery.
