Ministry Of Transport Is Planning To Extend Road Tax Renewal Exemption
The Ministry of Transport is planning to extend the exemption period for the renewal of road tax, which includes private vehicles extended for 2 more months. However, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong mentioned that the drivers will need to prove that they have a valid motor vehicle insurance.
So if you’re worried about getting stopped at a police road block, remember to bring a copy of your motor insurance that is still valid to avoid getting ticketed for not renewing your road tax. The exemption period for road tax renewal was first announced early this year whereby private vehicle owners are exempted for renewing their road tax from 1 February until 31 March. This effort was to avoid having crowds in public places during the MCO.
The plan is still in discussion, so do keep yourself updated in case the extension doesn’t fall through and you’re slapped with a hefty fine!
