Even in this day and age, some people are still being forced into arranged marriages. This man from London, Mohamad Malik decided to take things into his own hands to find himself a wife to escape being in an arranged marriage.
He decided to create his own website called "findmalikawife" to hasten the process of searching for a potential partner. Malik's website included information about himself, criteria in a future partner, FAQs, and even a Google form for those who are interested.
“My ideal partner would be a Muslim woman in her 20s, who’s striving to better her faith. Always personality and faith over anything else,” Malik said. The first question in the FAQs was "Is this a joke?", answered with “Nope, I’m serious. I’ve been searching for a partner who’ll work with me to grow our love for each other and Allah. If this sounds like you, please get in touch.”
Malik even took the search a step further by featuring himself on billboards across Birmingham with a tagline "Save me from an arranged marriage". To date, the responses have been going smoothly, he even enlisted the support of friends to help him sort through the emails he has received in response to the campaign.
Would you go this far to find a potential partner?
