Malaysian Vintage Sneaker Collector Sells 1917 Converse Trainers For RM40,800

31-year-old Wan Irfayuim Azim Wan Ab Aziz prides himself as a vintage sneakers collector. While he does only collect Converse sneakers, he recently sold his most prized possession, which is a pair of 1917 Converse Non Skid to another shoe collector in Pahang. Sadly, he sold the 104-year-old Converse trainers to help him through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Guess how much he sold the pair of Converse for, RM40,800! He posted his sneakers collection on his Facebook account and 7 potential buyers already contacted him within 24 hours! “However, one of them, a man from Pahang, wanted to buy the shoes at the price I offered and I also agreed to give three pairs of Converse shoes from the year of 1950, 1960 and 1970 as gifts to him,” he told Bernama.

According to Wan Irfayuim Azim, another same pair of shoes are being kept at the Converse Museum in Boston. “They contacted me via Facebook after seeing my posts on the history of vintage sneakers,” he said.

The vintage shoe collector mentioned that he will use the money to continue with his livelihood after losing his job in the Japanese tourism industry. Apparently, he couldn’t return to Japan when Malaysia implemented the MCO last year.
