Malaysian Olympic Swimmer Welson Sim Goes Viral In China For His Good Looks

It’s Olympic season, and of course the whole world is watching. Apparently, one of our very own Olympic swimmer, Welson Sim caught China’s attention during the opening ceremony of Tokyo Olympics on 23 July. Even though having only 2 close-up shots of Sim wearing his face mask during the live telecast, he has already gotten viral on Chinese social media, Sina Weibo, for his good looks.

The 24-year-old Olympian was also seen competing in the 200m and 400m freestyle events on 24 and 25 July. And well, this blew up! There was a channel in the social media platform dedicated for good looking Olympic athletes, and Sim’s photo was seen garnering a lot of attention. Sim gotten nicknames from Chinese users like “Malaysia’s Flying Fish Prince” and “handsome sunshine boy”.
