Malaysian Netizen Used Climate Central To Predict Areas In Selangor That May Face Floods In 2070
Ever since the flood hit Peninsular Malaysia, citizens urged the government to better prepare all states from the same situation happening again. According to netizen Zayn Gregory, who posted a thread on Twitter using a website called Climate Central to predict areas in Selangor that will be below annual flood levels.
The website showed that annual flood levels is the water level at the shoreline that local coastal floods exceed on average per year. Unsurprisingly, floods may happen again in 2070 if there no precautionary measures.
It's not to say Malaysia did not have any flood measures installed, like the SMART tunnel and dams, but with the climate changing and sea levels rising, we will need better plans on flood measures to prevent the same thing from happening like the past weekend.
