More international borders have been opening up to tourists, and we can't wait for Malaysia to do the same! The National Rehabilitation Council (MPN) proposed in a meeting, for Malaysia's borders to be opened to international visitors by January 2022.
According to a report by Berita Harian, MPN Chiarman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that this move will help speed up economic recovery, especially in the tourism sector. “The meeting also took note of the situation of the country’s tourism sector, which saw a relatively slow recovery due to the absence of international tourists entering the country, apart from operators of this sector who need time and resources to start their businesses. Taking into account the level of achievement of the country’s excellent vaccination program, today’s meeting has decided that the country’s border be opened to international visitors by 1 January, 2022,” he said.
That said, he mentioned that the MPN had requested the Special Committee on Pandemic Management, chaired by PM Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to immediately announce the countries that have been identified for the purpose of cooperation on special routes and travel corridors.
