Malaysia Noted As One Of The Fastest Vaccination Rate In The World Despite Recent Covid-19 Surge
Despite feeling depressed over the 5 digit Covid-19 cases, let’s start thinking about more positive numbers like our vaccination rate. Malaysia actually achieved one of the fastest vaccination rate in the world, outranking Australia and is only beaten by countries of the similar size of greater size within the past week.
According to Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin, Malaysia was able to speed up the inoculation rate due to the successful renegotiation of vaccine supply and delivery. It was also said that about 70% of Malaysia’s vaccine stock consists of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines. “Most of our portfolio is Pfizer, and then we spread our bets. We decided early on that it would be dangerous to put our eggs in one or two baskets,” said Khairy.
Other than Pfizer, Malaysia also carries the AstraZeneca, CanSino, and Sinovac which will be discontinued soon. By the end of August, 40% of adults in Malaysia will be fully vaccinated and the figure is expected to increase to 60% by the end of September. Malaysia Boleh!
