Make Your iPhone Battery Lasts Longer With These Four Tips
iPhones are infamously known for having a short battery life. But this problem doesn’t just happen to old iPhone users, even users with relatively new iPhone models may find that their phone battery is draining faster than usual.
Sometimes all you need to do to extend your battery life is to practice a few quick and easy fixes, like these:
1. Turn off Background App Refresh
One of the main reasons why your phone battery drains quickly is because of all the apps that are running in the background and consuming your battery life even when you’re not using your phone.
Simply search for Background App Refresh in Settings or go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and disable the feature. But if you don’t wish to disable the feature entirely, you can opt to disable selected battery-draining apps like Facebook, YouTube or Instagram that don’t need to be running in the background.
2. Lower screen brightness
This tip may just be a lifesaver for the senior iPhone users out there who always have their screen brightness set on maximum level, not knowing that this would significantly drain your battery in the long run.
Unless you’re in a bright, outdoor setting, try to reduce your phone’s screen brightness in Settings or via the Control Centre and set it to a comfortable level and ensure that you’re not straining your eyes to look at your screen.
3. Enable Optimised Charging
This feature is only available for iOS 13 and above, but it’s definitely a great hack to improve your battery life. Basically, enabling Optimised Charging will allow it to study your charging habits and when make necessary changes for a smarter charging pattern.
For example, if you tend to charge your phone overnight, Optimised Charging will detect this and avoid charging your iPhone to 100% as soon as you plug in the charger and instead, the battery will reach 80% and slowly charge to 100% for the rest of the night to protect your battery health.
To enable this feature, go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health > Optimised Charging.
4. Turn on Low Power Mode
This is definitely the easiest and most straightforward tip there is to reduce battery draining. When your iPhone is in Low Power Mode, it will automatically disable Background App Refresh, automatic downloads for music and videos and temporarily suspend a few other features until you disable Low Power Mode or charge your phone to 80%.
This feature will help extend your battery life until the next charge and it can be enabled in Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode.
But if you still find your iPhone battery to be draining at an alarming rate, even after attempting these hacks, then maybe it’s time to drop a visit at the Apple Service Centre.
