In latest news, Klang Valley folks may be able to look forward to entering Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) now that the area’s vaccination figures have hit 89.5%, which is close to the herd immunity requirement.

“If 89.5 per cent, maybe we can move to the next phase (Phase Two), because in terms of vaccination, it has surpassed the herd immunity target, which is almost 90 per cent,” said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob at a press conference at the WTC mega vaccination centre yesterday.

In order to make the transition, we must meet the requirements where the national daily average Covid-19 cases must drop below 4,000, the utilisation of beds in the ICU should be at a moderate level, and at least 10% of the population should be fully vaccinated.

Ismail Sabri added that once the government forms a Cabinet, there will be a meeting with the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) to discuss if other states may follow suit in moving towards Phase Two, so we can expect an announcement on this soon.
