Joggers Warned To Jog Only Within Their Own Neighbourhood Or Get Fined
When the government first announced full MCO (FMCO) or total lockdown, one of the most asked about question was whether people are allowed to exercise outdoors. While jogging and outdoor exercises are permitted during FMCO, joggers are reminded that they are only allowed to jog within their own residential neighbourhood.
According to Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak, those who are caught jogging beyond their residential area will be fined and face legal action taken under Regulation 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (No. 2) 2021.
As such, enforcement officers have been authorised to ask joggers to show proof of them living in the particular area, such as by checking their identification cards. So if you’re a jogger, make sure you bring along your IC whenever you’re out.
This comes after the news where a Twitter user had shared how he was fined RM1,500 by the police for jogging in Taman Tar, Ampang, an area which was several kilometres away from his residential address. Up to eight joggers had been fined for committing the same offence at the same area over the weekend (June 6).
