Jamie Foxx Is Iron Mike!
Following the success of another biopic, ‘Ray’, which won Jamie an Oscar, he will now be a part of another biopic, this time a series rather than a movie. Jamie will be playing boxing legend, Mike Tyson in the new biopic series.
The series will only appear on the small screen but will feature huge names in the film industry such as Antoine Fuqua who will direct the series and Martin Scorsese who will be on the production team.
According to Mike Tyson himself, he has been looking for an outlet to share his stories and life for quite some time now. He then added, “I look forward to collaborating with Martin, Antoine, Jamie, and the entire creative team to bring audiences a series that not only captures my professional and personal journey but also inspires and entertains.”
Tyson said that since his recent comeback to the ring back in November 2020, where he was matched with Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition match, the timing for his story to be told would be impeccable.
The series is currently in development but has not been picked up by any networks of as yet. That said, chances are Netflix will be picking it up. In addition, this new biopic series should not be confused with the one that Hulu announced late February of this year.
Tyson stated that the project Hulu was working on did not have his blessing and that he will not be paid anything by Hulu for using his name and story. The former heavyweight boxer also urged viewers to boycott Hulu for their “tone-deaf cultural misappropriation” dished out by Hulu.
