Jack Dorsey Is Selling His First Tweet As An NFT And It’s On Bid For $2.5 million

Everyone seems to be selling something of theirs as a non-fungible token (NFT) lately, from Elon Musk to the Fleetwood Mac Skateboarding TikToker, and the latest famous person to join them is Twitter’s founder and CEO, Jack Dorsey who is putting his first tweet up for digital auction as an NFT.

In case you still don’t know what an NFT is (I doubt it though since everyone’s talking about it these days), it is a unique digital file that grants you its exclusive ownership on blockchain.

So yeah, Dorsey is going to “sell” his first tweet as an NFT to the highest bidder, and I kid you not, the current bid is priced at $2.5 million (RM10.28 million). Yes, people are actually paying millions of dollars for this:

Except you’re not even buying the actual tweet, because it will still be available on Twitter. Instead, you will receive a digital certificate of the tweet with your purchase, but it will be “unique because it has been signed and verified by the creator”.

But luckily, the money made from this auction will go to a good cause as Dorsey explained that the proceeds will be converted to Bitcoin and donated to Give Directly for its Africa Response, which means it will be given directly to the people in need.

If you feel like you have more than $2.5 million to spare, then you can still join in on the bid, just click on the link in this tweet: — jack (@jack) March 6, 2021
