Instagram Users Can Now Virtually Try On Lipsticks While Shopping On The Platform

Instagram is full of interesting filters that can sometimes give you the effect of wearing makeup, but that has mostly been for fun because no matter how good those filters make you look, they’re not real products that can be downloaded and used in real life, until now.

The popularity of online shopping has finally caught up with cosmetic brands as L’Oreal and Facebook are teaming up to introduce a new approach for customers to virtually try on makeup products when shopping on Instagram.

The feature is made available through ModiFace, L’Oreal’s augmented reality and artificial intelligence company. “Through this new integration with L’Oréal, shoppers can expect a more personal shopping experience from even more of the brands they love, right where they’re already finding beauty inspiration: on Instagram,” outlined Sue Young, Head of Spark AR at Facebook.

Thanks to this service, Instagram users will be able to virtually try on lipsticks from brands like NYX Professional Makeup, Urban Decay, Maybelline New York, and Lancôme. And pretty soon, the feature will also be extended to other brands and makeup categories, which is going to make online shopping too easy and dangerous, if you know what I mean.
