Husbands Who Are Fully Vaccinated Will Be Allowed To Accompany Wives During Childbirth
In a reply to a Twitter user, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin confirms that husbands who are fully vaccinated will be allowed to accompany their wives during childbirth. Husbands will need to be fully vaccinated and tested negative for Covid-19 before being allowed to accompany their wives.
“I have asked the Health director-general (Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah) to allow would-be fathers who have completed their vaccination and screened negative for Covid-19 to accompany their wives in the labour room,” he said in the Twitter reply. Khairy's reply was then replied by Dr Noor Hisham who said "Yes, will do the needful."
Previously, government hospitals did not permit husbands to accompany their wives during labour since the implementation of the MCO last year.
