Here’s a Step-By-Step Guide on the New Covid Vaccination Process

As you may already know, the new Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine has arrived in Malaysia following the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme.

The first phase will begin on 26 February with the distribution of the vaccines to priority group 1 which consists of public and private healthcare personnel and our Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The vaccination process involves 3 phases and 5 priority groups which can be seen in the image below.

In order to get the vaccines, you must be registered and there are 5 ways of doing so, which are:

  1. MySejahtera Application

  2. Hotline (Will be launching soon)

  3. Outreach program for rural and interior areas

  4. Via the official government website

  5. Registration at public and private health facilities





Once you have completed the registration, you will receive details from the government regarding the vaccination centres and dates assigned to you through the MySejahtera app, phone calls, or text messages.

There are two ways to the vaccination process, through the MySejahtera app or manually, as seen below:

Do note however, that there are some side effects you will face after getting vaccinated but they are mild and temporary. The side effects include:

  1. Pain/swelling/redness at the injection site

  2. Tiredness

  3. Headaches

  4. Chills

  5. Joint pain

  6. Fever

  7. Nausea

  8. Feeling unwell

  9. Swelling of lymph nodes

You may also feel side effects other than what is listed and if so, please report them to your nearest medical facility or on the MySejahtera app.
