Here Are The Latest Retail Sector SOPs For MCO, CMCO, And RMCO Areas

The SOPs for the retail sector nationwide have been improved and updated to synchronise with the general SOPs issued by the National Security Council (MKN) to ensure that they are fully complied with by all retail, wholesale and distribution companies.

Here are the latest SOPs for the retail sector in MCO, CMCO and RMCO areas, according to Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

Clothes, fashion items and accessories sellers in MCO areas are not allowed to have clothes fitting and must provide disposable gloves at their premises. But for the same sellers in CMCO and RMCO areas, clothes fitting will be allowed and providing disposable gloves is encouraged, but not mandatory.

Studios operating in MCO areas can only offer photography services for identity cards, passports and licenses, and are limited to only one customer and one photographer at a time. As for studios in CMCO and RMCO areas, there will be no limit to the number of customers but it is subject to physical distancing and space available.

Car wash operators in MCO areas can only provide drive by washes for the exterior of a vehicle, while all car wash activities will be allowed in CMCO and RMCO areas.

Optical shops in MCO areas are limited to purchase and repairs only as face-to-face consultations are still not permitted. However, all activities will be allowed for optical shops in CMCO and RMCO areas.

Cosmetic, skincare and perfume outlets in MCO areas are only allowed for purchase of items while the use of testers and face-to-face consultations are strictly forbidden. But all these activities will be permitted in CMCO and RMCO areas.

Lastly, barbershops, hairdressers and beauty salons in MCO areas are only allowed to perform basic haircuts. However, for those in CMCO and RMCO areas, all activities will be allowed, except for ear waxing, trimming of nostril hair, head, shoulder, and body massage in barbershops.

Other activities that are not allowed in MCO areas include facial cleansing and treatment, eye makeup, hair makeup, hair treatment, manicure and pedicure.

Failure to comply with the stipulated SOPs will result in the issuing of compounds or shutting down of business premises, said Nanta.
