Google Maps is Going Green With Their New Feature
We all know our Earth is dying and we are the problem. The carbon emissions that we emit from our cars alone is enough to burn a hole through the ozone layer, let alone the factories. As such, many ‘woke’ people around the world has taken certain measures to clean up our environment albeit on a small scale but as the old saying goes, ‘sikit-sikit, lama-lama menjadi bukit’.
Thankfully, tech giant Google is lending a huge helping hand with their new feature on Google Maps. This new feature can help drivers reach their destination in the most eco-friendly way possible!
The feature basically shows the driver which routes are estimated to generate the lowest carbon emissions based on traffic, slopes, and a myriad of other factors but the most important part, the new eco-friendly feature also indicates which routes you should take in order to maximize petrol efficiency.
As it currently stands, the feature will first launch in the United States first (as usual) before it is introduced to the rest of the world.
According to director of products at Google Russel Dicker, “What we are seeing is for around half of routes, we are able to find an option more eco-friendly with minimal or no time-cost tradeoff.”
It is also very likely that we will see this feature on Waze in the coming future as Google owns the other popular navigation app as well.
