As the government plans to reopen state borders and allow tourism activities to resume, more people are getting ready to travel and go on holidays now that they are fully vaccinated. If you're still pondering your next travel location, how about a trip to "nowhere"?

The cruise to nowhereis reportedly ready to set sail with the cruise to nowhere service in Penang starting early next month. According to Penang Port Sdn Bhd (PPSB) CEO Datuk Sasedharan Vasudevan, the port operator is prepared to kickstart the service with cruise operators as soon as they receive the green light from the National Security Council (MKN).

“The standard operating procedure (SOP) has been submitted to the authorities and once it is approved, people will be able to enjoy the cruise, although at reduced capacity," he said. While the SOPs do not require passengers to be fully vaccinated, Sasedharan said PPSB is in favour of incorporating that requirement, just like what the airline industry is doing.

The cruise to nowhere service is expected to provide job opportunities for at least 1,000 locals, especially those who are in the food and beverage, laundry, garbage disposal, and bunkering businesses.
