Employee In Sabah Got Laid Off After 10 Years For Refusing To Get Vaccinated
While some companies try to provide incentives to encourage workers to get vaccinated against Covid-19, others may resort to punishment as a way to discourage employees from being anti-vax. One employee in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah recently found herself being let go from her company of 10 years for not taking the vaccine.
The woman took to TikTok to explain how her company had sent her an employment termination letter as she was unable to provide a reasonable excuse for being unvaccinated. As the government demands for workers in the trade sector to be fully vaccinated, the woman's company had no choice but to terminate her.
The woman also highlighted how she had been working at the same company for 10 years, only to get terminated because of this. "Thanks Gov," she said sarcastically in her caption. In a follow up TikTok video, the woman also tried to explain why she had refused the vaccine, saying she was afraid of facing severe side effects as seen in some of the vaccinated people around her.
Despite her predicament, most users in the comments seemed to agree with the company's decision. "You have your right to turn down the vaccine, the company has the right to dismiss you," wrote a user.

But luckily, the woman later revealed that she managed to work things out with her employer, and is now on the road to getting vaccinated. "If the situation forces me to do so, involving work, I’ll get vaccinated," she said. The woman also ended her video urging others to get vaccinated asap if they wish to keep their job.
