Don Cheadle After Receiving Emmy Nomination For 98-second Cameo: I Don’t Get It Either
The 2021 Emmy Award nominations were unveiled on Monday (13 July) and the list of nominees has got the whole town buzzing. For starters, many people were celebrating the academy’s new diversity record that not only included more people of colour, but also a trans actor in their nominations. But interestingly enough, it was American actor Don Cheadle’s nomination that turned heads on Twitter.
The 56-year-old actor received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, thanks to his guest appearance as James Rhodes/War Machine in Marvel’s ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (TFATWS)’ series.
While it was a great performance from Cheadle, fans are puzzled about the actor’s nomination considering his appearance on the show only lasted 98 seconds throughout the entire series, which consists of six episodes, with up to 60 minutes of running time.

What’s even funnier about the situation is that the lead actors of ‘TFATWS’, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan failed to secure any Emmy nominations of their own, despite their equally brilliant performance.

Naturally, some people showed disapproval over Cheadle’s nomination as there were other actors who probably showed better performance due to a longer screen time, but weren’t considered for the award. And guess what? Cheadle agrees with the haters!
In a tweet, the Marvel actor responded to his nomination by thanking fans who congratulated him and also agreeing with his haters, saying “I don’t really get it either. buuuuuuuuuut on we go.” I think the only word we can use to describe this situation is legen-wait for it-dary.
