Does Cleaning Your Mattress Give You Any Health Benefits?

When was the last time you cleaned your mattress? No, I don’t mean changing your bedsheets and pillow case. I mean thoroughly cleaning your bed. Never? Don’t feel bad though, you are definitely not the only one who fails to clean their mattress properly.

As it turns out, many people often get the misconception that changing their bed sheets and pillowcases are sufficient. Now although it is a good practice to get them changed every now and then, it is indeed far from sufficient as it technically only involves cleaning the surface of your bed.

Most adults spend roughly 7 to 9 hours sleeping on their bed everyday in order to function at their most productive state and having a hard time sleeping may hinder your ability to wake up in that state. So what could be preventing you from getting your beauty sleep? – Dust mites.

Dust mites can cause skin irritations and if you have sensitive skin, the effects could be worse. They do tend to thrive in humid environments and are usually found in carpets, couches and of course…your bed. Dust mites are virtually microscopic in size and they multiply like crazy. It is understood that your dead skin cells alone can feed a staggering 1.5 million of these abominations – YIKES!

Conducting a deep cleaning of your mattress can help eliminate all the dirt, sweat and dust that dust mites live on, along with your dead skin cells which dust mites feed off.

If you are like me, and you suffer from bad allergy issues, then this is for you. As it turns out, by deep cleaning your mattress, you are able to eliminate potential allergens such as dust, pollen and anything in between. Allergens can cause rashes, uncontrollable sneezing resulting in the swelling of your nose, eyes and throat along with coughing.

Therefore, it is imperative that you deep clean your mattress at least once every two months to ensure you are able to get a peaceful night’s sleep, all whilst maintaining your health. Considering the time that we live in…your health may very well be your greatest asset.
