According to Berita Harian, Denmark was recorded as the first country in Europe to lift most of the restrictions for Covid-19, despite the increase of cases involving the Omicron variant. The European country no longer considers the pandemic a social critical illness as it does not burden the health system and the country has high vaccination rate.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that it was too early to know whether the restrictions will be reintroduced in the future. “I dare not say it is really a final goodbye to the Covid-19 blockade. We don’t know what will happen in the autumn. Whether there will be new variants,” he said in an interview.

With a population of 5.8 million people, citizens of Denmark will no longer need to wear face masks when using public transport and entering stores or restaurants. It is only recommended the use of face masks in hospitals, health care facilities, and care centres. Other than that, the use of digital certificates to enter nightclubs, party events, and dining are not mandatory anymore.
