Demi Lovato’s Documentary Reveals How She Was Raped As A Teen

American singer and actress Demi Lovato recently released a tell-all documentary titled ‘Demi Lovato: Dancing With The Devil’ that centers around her personal struggles with drug addiction as well as her notorious 2018 overdose incident.

In the latest episode of her YouTube Original series, Lovato recounts how she was sexually assaulted as a teenager which resulted in her losing her virginity in a rape.

“We were hooking up but I said, ‘Hey, this is not going any further. I’m a virgin and I don’t want to lose it this way. And that didn’t matter to them – they did it anyways,'” said Lovato.

According to the 28-year-old singer, the incident happened when she was “part of the Disney crowd”, which was probably around the years 2007 to 2010, when she was still very much underage. Although Lovato didn’t name her attacker, she said it was someone she “had to see all the time” following the assault.

Dubbing the incident “my #MeToo story,” Lovato says she reported the attacker but “they never got in trouble for it – they never got taken out of the movie they were in.”

It’s certainly not easy to relive a painful memory like this and it takes even more courage and strength to tell it to the world. My heart goes out to Lovato and I truly hope she’s able to heal from this soon.
