Covid-19 Assessment Centre Expected To Begin Operations By Next Week

The Covid-19 assessment centre in Malaysia is expected to begin operations next week to coordinate and integrate hospitals in managing the pandemic cases within the country. According to Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, there will be a third discussion on Saturday to look into details and technical implementations for the assessment centre.

He added that ever since the second wave of Covid-19 hit Malaysia, the private sector had to lend a hand to assist the government by mobilizing their specialists and staffs to work at the Sungai Buloh Hospital. The Health Ministry is looking to increase the capacity of Covid-19 laboratories that can conduct the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction tests that can range from 100,000 to 150,000 test per day. So far there are only 68 laboratories that can carry out about 70,000 tests daily.
