The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued a yellow alert on 28 December, warning continuous rain for Sabah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, and Johor, which is expected to continue until 3 January 2022. In another statement, it was added that continuous rain is expected to occur in Tawau, Sandakan, and Kudat in Sabah starting 28 December until 2 January.

Meanwhile, rain is expected to occur across Terengganu and several areas in Kelantan namely Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Baru, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, Pasir Puteh, and Kuala Krai from 30 December until 1 January 2022.

According to MetMalaysia, areas in Pahang like Jerantut, Maran, Kuantan, Pekan, and Rompin will experience continuous rain. Last but not least, in Johor, the district of Mersing will experience the same thing.

Be extra cautious if you are in these areas, as the monsoon surge is expected to bring continuous rain and strong winds that may cause floods in low-lying areas.
