Companies Might Face Fines Up To RM100,000 For Violating SOPs
The Malaysian government may soon be increasing fines for companies that breach the Covid-19 SOPs from RM1,000 to RM100,000 and jail time. Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob mentioned that there were so many cases involving entertainment outlets and that felt like the current fine amount was small, so they had prepared RM1,000 in advance before authorities raided their premises.
There was an instance where a company was issued with the RM1,000 fine but even so resulted with many factory workers tested positive for Covid-19, this caused the public to be very upset with the government. Hence, the government will be drafting an ordinance to quickly take action against employers of such companies.
