Casio Has Launched Their First Wear OS Smartwatch And It Will Be Introduced As Part Of The G-Shock L

The G-Shock is by far one of the most iconic and recognizable watches in the world and we can thank Casio for the introduction of such a fine timepiece. This rugged beast of a watch has stood the test of time as the G-Shock line is still as popular today as it was back when it was first released.

Therefore, it makes almost perfect sense for Casio to introduce their first ever Wear OS smartwatch into the G-Shock line, the GSW-H1000. As we have come to expect from the G-Shock line, the new GSW will still be the durable and reliable much like the digital versions of the watch. The GSW features shock resistance and water resistance up to a depth of 200 meters.

The watch comes with many features that one would expect from a fitness-focused rugged smartwatch such as an optical heart sensor, GPS, build in compass, altitude sensor, accelerometer and gyrometer. As the GSW uses Wear OS, you will be able to utilize all the functions that you normally would with any Google device such as Google Assistant and Google Fit Support.

With regards to hardware, the watch has a 1.2-inch 360 x 360 dual-layer display that combines a monochrome always-on LCD display with a color LCD panel. As for batter life, the watch should last you about one and a half days if you are using the color display and charging should take about 3 hours.

The GSW-H1000 is set to retail for RM2,900 in Malaysia.

With rumors that Apple is creating a rugged Apple watch variation circulating, I think they might abandon the idea of creating one altogether after they get a glimpse of what Casio has just unveiled. This will certainly be one of the best smartwatches in 2021.
