Cases In The Klang Valley May Drop By 31 August Due To Effectiveness Of The Covid-19 Vaccine
According to Health DG, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham, the Klang Valley may see a drop in COvid-19 cases when 50% of the population have been vaccinated by the end of August. Another good news that he added was that vaccines used in Malaysia have been proven to be effective against the deadly Delta variant, based off vaccinations in Labuan and Sarawak. They managed to reduce hospital admissions, ICU bed usages, and use of ventilators.
“We are already seeing some positive results, whereby in the Klang Valley when we started vaccinations for the elderly, the age group of 60 and above, patients in Sungai Buloh Hospital decreased and now we are seeing age groups of 40 to 59 and 20 to 39 also decreasing in the last week,” he added.
Dr Noor Hisham also stated that more variants are expected to emerge, as mutations happen when there are infections that cause the virus to enter the body and multiply in the lungs. As of 16 August, there are a total of 19,740 new Covid-19 cases so let’s continue to stay safe and vigilant.
