Brace Yourselves, Crocs Are Making A Fashion Comeback

We’ve all been there, whether it was pressured by our parents or out of genuine desire, we had all worn Crocs at one point in our lives. And just when you thought we can begin to leave that dreadful memory of the ridiculously colourful and bulky pair of shoes in the past, them Crocs are already making a comeback.

It started in 2018 when the brand teamed up with rapper Post Malone, who designed a pair of yellow coloured Crocs with barb wire designs that were said to resemble his face tattoos. The collaboration was a massive success for Crocs, and the duo even rekindled their collaboration in 2020.

And who can forget the footwear collaboration between Crocs and luxury fashion brand Balenciaga. The Balenciaga Platform Clogs were a design that still haunts me until today, but for some reason, people seemed to love it as it was sold out everywhere and many even considered it to be one of the “hottest” trends in 2018.

Over the years, Crocs also collaborated with other high profile celebrities like Bad Bunny and Justin Bieber, the latter of whom was even bold enough to send THE Victoria Beckham a pair of lilac Crocs designed by himself. Like the rest of us, Posh Becks exclaimed that she would “rather die” than wear those shoes, and can you blame her?

But there are plenty of other people who seemed to be embracing the return of Crocs, one of whom includes musician Questlove who actually wore shiny gold coloured Crocs to the Oscars last month!

With all these celebrities repping their footwear, it’s no wonder Crocs seems to be doing really well. In fact, the company saw a 64% increase in sales in the first quarter of 2021 alone, making a grand total of $460 million (RM1.9 billion)!

Whether we like it or not, it’s probably time for us to accept the fact – Crocs are really coming back and this time, they’re stronger than ever and they may be here to stay.
