Updated: Oct 6, 2021
Being human, we are social creatures that wish to bond with other humans because it is vital for our well-being. Connections create intimate relationships that cultivate an experience for ourselves and determines who we are.
The benefits of social connection could lead to greater empathy towards others, productivity, higher self-esteem, and trust. The good news is we become more content and fulfilled which most likely creates a social connectedness.
In contrast, isolation breeds numerous negative effects on our well-being such as depression, suicidal thoughts, and loneliness. While isolation can cause loneliness, the two don’t always blend together.
Moreover, everyone is unique in their own ways and desires to decide what an important healthy relationship looks like.
Sometimes having a close relationship with one or two people in your life could drastically improve your emotional & mental well-being, such as feeling content, emotional intelligence, and abundance.
