While the Ministry of Human Resources (MORH) is expecting to increase the national minimum wage to "about RM1,500 a month" by the end of 2022, AEON Co (M) Bhd went ahead to increase the minimum wage of its Grade G employees from RM1,200 to RM1,500 per month that will be effective from 1 January.

"AEON Malaysia always prioritises the welfare of our employees and welcomes the recommendation from the Ministry of Human Resources. Accordingly, the effective date of the new minimum wage by AEON Malaysia is earlier than the date recommended by the government, which is by the end of 2022," the company said.

According to AEON, the new RM1,500 monthly salary is just the basic salary and does not include allowances or other incentives. This move is in accordance to its AEON Sayap Bagimu's sustainability initiative, which aims to provide opportunities, encouragement, and support to stakeholders.

"Known as 'AEON Warriors', they are the company's most valuable assets. Their welfare and livelihoods are our key priority," said chief human resources officer cum director of corporate communication Kasuma Satria Mat Jadi.

We love to see it! Kudos to AEON for the amazing initiative!
