So can you guess the state of euphoria I was in when I first heard that scientists in the UK discovered that consuming this delightful beverage can indeed reduce my stress?!

As it turns out, Scientists at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom has uncovered that the abundant flavanols apparent in cocoa can help improve your blood flow, thus reducing the amount of stress you might feel in stress-inducing situations such as sitting for a test, confronting your cheating girlfriend, or struggling to place your change back into your wallet in a grocery line, as the person behind you stares at you disapprovingly.

According to Dr. Catarina Rendeiro, Ph.D., of the University of Birmingham, “Our findings are significant for everyday diet, given that the daily dosage administered could be achieved by consuming a variety of foods rich in flavanols — particularly apples, black grapes, blackberries, cherries, raspberries, pears, pulses, green tea, and unprocessed cocoa,”

Do keep in mind however, the studies show that “UNPROCESSED COCOA” is capable of reducing stress, meaning that if you are inclined to take full advantage of the benefits that come with consuming cocoa, drinking those ‘3 in 1’ sachets or those sugar-filled blasphemies you find at coffee shops are a no-go.
